Welcome to LumiTube! Our mission is to help you (the parent) give your child a safe, fun, educational learning experience through videos. We are here to serve you and help your child reach the potential that you envision. Here are the things that we do behind the scenes to make this experience possible!
Verifiable Parental Consent
This is necessary to be aligned with COPPA guidelines. By agreeing to this you state that you are the parent/guardian of said child and consent to the following.
What We Collect
We collect minimal data that is necessary to run the application.
Data collected during parent set-up:
- •General age range - Helps us find appropriate videos for certain age ranges
- •Name - For Profile
- •Phone Number - Used for OTP security and to send Weekly Reports
What we use when the child uses the app:
- •Parent Preferences - Used as input for the Custom AI filter
- •Watch history - Deleted after 14-day period
What We Don't Collect
- ✓No Personalized/Interest-Based Advertising: The data collected is not used to build a profile for targeted advertising across the internet.
- ✓No Public Sharing: The app does not allow the child to share personal information with others or make it publicly available (e.g., no open comments, live chat, or social features).
- ✓No Third-Party Advertising/Tracking: The app is designed to ensure that third parties do not collect personal information from the child for their own purposes.
YouTube Content
LumiTube displays video content sourced from YouTube using YouTube's official embedded player. All videos shown in the app are pre-screened by LumiTube's AI before reaching your child's feed — only content that passes your family's filters is ever shown.
- •YouTube's Privacy Policy applies to the YouTube player. When a video is played, YouTube's embedded player is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- •No write-based actions. LumiTube does not allow users to upload content, post comments, or create playlists on YouTube through the app. This is in compliance with YouTube's requirements for child-directed services.
- •No ads in the player. LumiTube does not serve advertising of any kind through the YouTube player or elsewhere in the app.
- •Child-directed compliance. LumiTube operates its YouTube integration in compliance with YouTube's API Terms of Service and Developer Policies applicable to child-directed services, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Data Sharing
We do not share or sell any data. We analyze the data through PostHog to provide a better user-experience. It's an anonymized service which means the data is not connected to a person.
Data Retention
We encrypt all profile data and will delete watch history after 2 weeks.
Security
All data is encrypted.
User/Parental Rights
Parents retain full control and authority over their child's use of this app and any collected personal information. At any time, a parent has the right to: review all personal information we have collected from their child; request deletion of that information; and refuse to allow any further collection or use of their child's data by the app. The parent may also revoke verifiable consent to the app's collection practices without affecting the child's ability to use the core, non-data-dependent functionalities of the service. We are committed to honoring all such requests promptly and providing simple, accessible mechanisms for parents to exercise these rights.
